New Mexico’s most decorated ciderery, Tractor Brewing Company, has once again brought home medals to our state. At The Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP) in Grand Rapids, MI, the local craft beer, spirits and cider producer five medals for their popular ciders. Silver medals were awarded to Berry Cider, Rose Cider and Thai Basil Mint. Bronze went to Delicious Golden Dry Cider and Nichols Winesap Cider, which was made with 100% New Mexico apples from Nichols Ranch and Orchards. This is the third time that Tractor has entered the competition and won a total of six medals in previous years.
“It feels so good to call attention to our state for something good,” said Skye Devore, co-owner and president of Tractor Brewing Company. “The cider industry is growing nationwide. Keeping up with trends and being able to sit side by side with ciders from Michigan and Washington State and stand out is a feather in the hat of our brewing team.”
Berry Cider, Rose Cider and Delicious Golden Dry Cider are available year round on draft and in 16oz cans throughout New Mexico and El Paso. Thai Basil Mint and Nichols Winesap Cider are seasonal selections with limited availability.
During the 2019 Legislative Session, the cider industry saw a major victory in Senate Bill 413 (Stewart, J. Martinez), which made space for the emerging industry in statute and brought excise tax parity for cider makers. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the bill into law and it takes effect July 1, 2019.
Tractor Brewing Company craft beers and ciders are available in throughout New Mexico and west Texas through Premier Distributing Company or L&F Distributors.
