Hey Beer Farmers,
Here’s another piece of reading for your Tuesday – those of you who keep up with Tractor Brewing Company, know that we are expanding our blog presence to not only hit your screen once a week, but often times, multiple times in those seven days. We have a lot to say – and we think you’ll like our categories: Funk, Flavor, Favorites, and Faces – all things entertainment, food truck, personal artist profile, and neighborhood related, as they relate to our tap rooms, and overall business.
Today, for some definite FUNK, we bring you a recent conversation had with Luckyiam, a former member of the Living Legends – heard of em? If not, no worries – but do us a favor, and the next time you leave that rock you live under, ask someone to list notable legendary Hip-Hop groups that made way for today’s hustling artists… chances are, Living Legends will top the list of those you ask – and Luckyiam will be mentioned on that list of legends. We will scold you not, for not knowing though and rather hip you to this Hip-Hop artist in route to SXSW – so that you might come on down to Wells Park when he hits town, to start your weekend off right! Oh yeah, it’s FREE – March 13th at 9pm – Luckiam and friends, in route to SXSW will take over Tractor Brewing Wells Park – until then, we will acquaint you with the man behind the mic via a recent conversation we were grateful to have. Enjoy!
Headed to SXSW, what should folks that are on your in route tour expect?
Lucky: “They should expect to have FUN & enjoy a evening full of new music feat. WakeSelf , Apaulo8, Bassgator, Sleepy Will, DJ Nykon and Luck&Lana! It’s 2015 & we are focused, maaaannn!”
Have you ever played a “brewery” before?
Lucky: “Actually I have! Hiero Day in Oakland CA was held at a brewery 2014&13! It’s was phenomenal!”
In the context of the Living Legends, and the ever changing face of Hip Hop – how do you see yourself Luckyiam, moving on into the future? What are some creative things you want to explore? What are some projects you’d like to birth?
Lucky: “Reinventing yourself is key & Luck&Lana, with Kill the Computer is the first chapter of the new creative moves I’m making. We released our first project in November 2013 & we are currently finishing up our new album/debuting new material on this SXSW run & releasing the single “My Team.” I’m having the most fun I’ve had in years making this Luck&Lana music! I also have Ep coming soon with a group I’m in called “TAMMER” w/ Terra Lopez of Sister Crayon & producer Dunekat. It’s a trippy-experimental art rap’ish record! This stuff is really dope as well. I’m also in a group with Sapient of Sandpeople called The Prime (before They stole our name) we have a amazing unreleased album called FADE. I don’t know if Sape will ever release it! A Mystik Journeymen 20th year anniversary album should happen this year & my wish is that Madlib & Peanutbutter Wolf will produce that! Last but not least, is solo Luckyiam music! I’m dropping a new single on Valentines Day! It’s called “Supreme” prod. by Eligh & feat. Claire Mortifee (she’s a crazy dope Canadian singer). Last last..I wish Living Legends could get back together & be friends/make that epic album the fans want & need…Whew….that is all.”
What would your advice be to all those out there grinding in the name of Hip Hop, for the people?
Lucky” “Keep your day job. And, be try to be true to yourself. Less is more. Don’t rap over your vocals live. Have contracts for Everything – & music streaming is evil & brilliant.”
We don’t make resolutions on the Beer Farm, but if you made one for 2015 what was it? If you didn’t, what is one habit you are set on continuing?
Lucky: “I’m trying to be more organized lately. Lana’s grandma says “Plan the Work & then Work the Plan.” I’m trying to be about that nowadays. I really just wanna be heard & felt so I’m coming to the table with quality & fun! So get ready to vibe out with us! Peace & Thank You!”
